Welcome to the world of Statistics. Statistics is a very important tool for learning, planning and living a meaningful life. Everyone uses  Statistics as a tool to understand their different subjects in their different perspectives. It is a science of observations, analysis, storage, retrieval, planning, forecasting and, living, managing and doing mid-course correction. Whether anyone has studied it or not, everyone is using it in some way or the other.

There are generally three uses of word "Statistic(s)".

·       As plural, "Statistics" is used for "Data, Data and Data".

·      As "statistic", it is used for meaning a function or a method like Mean, Median, t-statistic, F-statistic etc. These are also called indicators. Development of indicators and fitting them into framework is just converting themes of legislation for achieving goals or containing multitude of problems into matrix of indicators, its meta-data, targets or goals, time-targets, protocols etc. . One can say that Statistics here plays a roll of Science of Framework Management. The product of this exercise is often development of Best Practices or Standard Operating Procedure. 

·      Thirdly "Statistics" is also used for Science of Observations, whereby a student of this discipline learns Data management, Estimations, Testing of Hypothesis, Sampling Techniques, Quality Control, Operations Research, Design of Experiments, Factor Analysis, Correlations, Regressions... etc...
